    Book of Enoch

Have any of you read the Book of Enoch?

What did you learn by reading it?

Should I seek it out and read it?

I have read some of it. Fits into the category; "What a Long, strange trip it's been". Good reading though. Wouldn't use it to build doctrine .

I used to have one. I didn't read much of it. Personally I don't read or follow extra- Biblical books.

Jude mentions Enoch 1:9 in his book at Jude 1:14-15, but that's not enough to convince me it should be in the cannon of Scripture.

The reason: Enoch 2:3 speaks of "rain," when it had not rained before the flood (when Enoch lived), and no one even knew what rain was.

Enoch 67:1-3 says God appointed angels to build Noah's ark. The Bible says that God told Noah to build the ark (Gen 6:14-16).

Lastly, Enoch chapters 6 & 7 says that 200 angels came to earth and had sex with human women which resulted in giant offspring. Some conclude that angels mated with human women in Gen 6:1-4. The actual passage says it was the "sons of God" which they say are angels. This could be left up for debate. It may refer that the "sons of God" were the godly line of Seth intermarrying with the ungodly line of Cain. Again, this could be left up to debate.
If you put God First, you have Him at Last.

    .
IMO it has merit especially for historical purposes.

Many experts say it's been tampered with so perhaps it's not cannon, but Jude wouldn't have mentioned something that had no validity. A lot of history has been kept from us and would shock us if we knew everything

For those who have read it, which version or author/translator did you get? Or which one would you recommend?
